Surface Textile Design

This is a designed color-study circle skirt that was hand-painted with oil paint sticks on cotton fabric. T 
The main colors that I incorporated in my design were Red, Orange, and Yellow, in a gradient form, with incorporations of Green and Mahogany in the top pattern, and it has a Purple shade emerging from the top or inner portion of the circle skirt. 
The patterned top layer of my circle skirt design was inspired by the waves and ripples of the water in my inspiration photo. I had to edit and manipulate the scale, size, frequency, and variation of this pattern for it to work best on my circle skirt. 
Lastly, my skirt design’s connection to nature really stood out to me. Initially, my design was inspired by the water from the inspiration image and the background colors resembled the sun’s glow.
